Edward retired from Forvis, LLP as a partner in the national healthcare practice. His business career was in healthcare consulting and he worked with health systems and communities throughout the country in strategic planning, capital planning, reimbursement, and health need studies. Today his firm is one of the 10 largest private consulting practices in the US with over 400 healthcare consulting experts.

Edward has served on the board of Servants for Sight for 5 years and has served as Chairman for the last three years. He has been involved in numerous other not for profit organizations in Greenville and has a passion for serving healthcare needs of the underserved. He is married to Stella Stall and they have 5 children and 10 grandchildren.

Mr. Peters retired after 35 years in the healthcare industry. He had experience in compliance, privacy and quality systems. He has been with SFS since 2021 when he started volunteering. He is married to his wife Courtney, they live in Greer and enjoy travel, photography and wine collecting.

Sandra is the newest member of our team. As the Practice Director, she is responsible for maintaining, fostering, and growing relationships with patients, practices, and volunteer doctors.

She brings with her seventeen years of ophthalmology experience, having worked for the largest ophthalmology clinic in Houston, Texas.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.

In her spare time she loves to travel and spend time with her husband and their two dogs, Enzo and Massimo.

Jennifer is a native of Fairhope, Alabama and received her undergraduate degree in Social Work and Spanish from Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky and her Masters Degree from the University of Alabama. While pursuing her degree she was an officer in the student government, member of a campus missions organization and played in several intramural sports. She also spent a semester studying abroad in Costa Rica. Her love of the Spanish language and the Hispanic people grew during this time, and after graduation, she served as a missionary in Guayaquil, Ecuador. During her seven years in Ecuador she also worked for Funcrisa, a Christian non-profit which provides care similar to what Servants for Sight provides. She was responsible for seeking out patients in remote villages in order to find them the eye care they needed.

She has been married to Abraham Reyes, whom she met in Ecuador, for 26 years, and they are the parents of 3 teenagers, Joshua, Caleb, Lucy.

She is the Patient Director and Volunteer Coordinator for Servants for Sight.

Paul Shanks comes to Servants for Sight with an expansive background. Having served in the Special Operations community in the USAF and completed his military career as a disabled veteran, he returned to San Diego from Southeast Asia, acquired a degree in photography, and married his nurse, Debbie. Three children and twelve grandchildren later, he and Debbie stay very busy. Notably, Paul went on to serve as the commander of the Preston B. Johnson chapter of the Disabled American Veterans in Greer.

Paul has also been a professional photographer for over four decades, and worked as a commercial pilot and flight instructor while running his studio in Michigan for 14 years. During that time he served as the President of the Professional Photographers of Michigan. Upon moving to South Carolina, Paul taught photography and assisted in the management of a photo studio at an upstate university.

In another career segue, Paul obtained a degree in Surgical Technology and served in several positions at local hospitals and clinics. During that time he participated in a mission trip with Servants for Sight to the Dominican Republic. Upon his return, he took a position with Southern Eye Associates. Paul volunteered with Servants for Sight while working with Southern Eye Associates. After retiring, he was brought on staff as the program manager. He has participated in several trips to the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, and Kenya.

Amy Evette joined Servants for Sight in 2018, and has taken a strong leadership role at the Upstate’s leading eye care ministry. She is passionate about preventative care, specifically eye care, because she realizes its direct correlation to avoiding further trauma in the lives of their patients.

Under her direction, Servants for Sight has become more effective in fulfilling its mission, “to provide Hope and Healing to our communities through preventative and restorative eye care.” Her transformational initiatives better prepare Servants for Sight to face current and future challenges, have led to improved financial stability, and have expanded the reach of eye care services. During her tenure, Evette has overseen the growth of Servants for Sight, helping to add 42 more volunteer physicians, 3 geographical regions, and a ministry-focus.

Prior to joining Servants for Sight, Evette was an Area Manager for Mattress Firm, running a 6 million dollar market. She also served as a fundraising manager for The Living Vine, a christian maternity home in Savannah, Georgia. Before that, she was a part of the pilot team for long-term missionaries through R.O.C.K. Bridge Ministries in Nakuru, Kenya, where she served as the team accountant. Her history in ministry and nonprofit stretches further back on a voluntary basis and has been a major focus of her life since she was a child.

She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Georgia and a Master’s in Nonprofit Administration from Louisiana State University. She continues to take educational initiatives in leadership, Spanish, and free educational courses on optometry, ophthalmology, and poverty rehabilitation.

When she is not working to help the visually impaired living in underserved communities, Amy enjoys hiking and paddleboarding with her husband Michael and two kids River and Riley.
